18th June 2021: Sickle cell awareness creation by LRF in partnership with The Brains at SASSE College
The Brains Association, in partnership with Lifafa Research Foundation, commemorated the International Day of Sickle Cell with a project aimed at creating awareness and management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) among students at St Joseph’s College Sasse.
Objectives:
- Educate students, teachers, and parents/caregivers about SCD
- Provide support and accommodations for students living with SCD
- Distribute free sickle cell booklets to the school community
Key Activities:
- Distribution of sickle cell booklets
- Presentation on SCD awareness and management
- Identification of roles for teachers, school staff, and parents/caregivers in supporting students with SCD
- Description of accommodations to meet the needs of students with SCD
Conclusion:
The project successfully raised awareness and promoted management of SCD among students, teachers, and parents/caregivers. The partnership between The Brains Association and Lifafa Research Foundation demonstrates a commitment to supporting students with SCD and promoting inclusive education.
