23rd September 2023: Awareness creation and sensitisation on lung health and most especially chronic obstruction pulmonary disease (COPD)
Due to the alarming rise in smoking rates amongst youths in Buea, both first and second-hand, LRF organized a seminar to educate and raise awareness on the importance of lung health.
Objectives:
- Expert presentations on lung health and COPD
- Personal testimonials from individuals affected by COPD
- Distribution of educational materials and resources
Key Messages
- Lung health is crucial for overall well-being
- COPD is a preventable and treatable disease and Early detection and treatment can improve quality of life
- Smoking cessation and avoidance of second-hand smoke are essential for lung health
Outcomes:
- Enhanced knowledge on lung health
- Increased awareness on critical issues surrounding COPD
- Improved skills to prevent COPD
Conclusion:
The seminar was a success, raising awareness and educating youths on the importance of lung health and COPD prevention. LRF remains committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention in our community. Let us prioritize our lung health and take proactive steps to protect our lungs. Quit smoking, avoid second-hand smoke, and get regular check-ups.
